Epic rebuke as 12 Republican senators shame Donald Trump by voting with Democrats, 59-41, to overturn his national emergency declaration. The House-passed measure may end up in court because Trump has vowed to veto the bill.

Both parties deemed that Trump’s emergency declaration at the southern border was an executive overreach to fulfill his campaign promise to build the border wall over Congress’ objections.

The Republicans voting with Democrats were: Mitt Romney (UT), Mike Lee (UT), Rand Paul (KY), Lamar Alexander (TN), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Marco Rubio (FL), Pat Toomey (PA), Rob Portman (OH), Susan Collins (ME), Roy Blunt (MO), Jerry Moran (KS) and Roger Wicker (MS). Sen. Thom Tillis had initially said he would side with the Democrats, but caved to pressure from Trump.
