House Speaker Nancy Pelosi boxes the GOP in by refusing to take up an emergency declaration fix that is aimed at giving Donald Trump a pass. She continues to play Trump and Republicans masterfully.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he was open to bringing a bill to the Senate floor that would allow amendments to the National Emergencies Act, which Trump used to invoke to declared his national emergency after Congress refused to give him money for the border wall.

Speaker Pelosi isn’t playing along with Republicans trying to give Trump an easy out. She slammed Trump for creating a fake national emergency on the border as a power grab.

“Republican Senators are proposing new legislation to allow the President to violate the Constitution just this once in order to give themselves cover. The House will not take up this legislation to give President Trump a pass,” Pelosi said in a statement.

Four Republican senators have publicly said they would vote to block Trump’s emergency declaration. Sens. Thom Tillis (NC), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Susan Collins (ME) and Rand Paul (KY) will vote to block Trump.
