BREAKING: New York State regulators subpoena Trump Organization’s longtime insurance broker Aon, just one week after Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen told Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) that he routinely “inflated the value of his assets to insurance companies.”
The New York Times reports the subpoena is the “first step in an investigation of insurance policies and claims involving President Trump’s family business.” The subpoena was served on Aon on Monday, as “part of an inquiry by the New York State Department of Financial Services.”
Cohen had three testimonies on Capitol Hill last week — two closed door testimonies and one public testimony. During his explosive testimony before the House Oversight Committee, Cohen called Trump “a racist, a conman and a cheat.”
“The subpoena is the latest sign that the Trump Organization is facing scrutiny from multiple fronts — federal prosecutors, congressional Democrats, and now, insurance regulators,” the newspaper reports. It is totally conceivable that the investigations in New York, particularly the Southern District (SDNY) is a RICO investigation. The lawyer and accountant are two individuals who can bring Trump down. That is Cohen and Allen Weisselberg. They are attacking the investigation from all sides.
This comes as House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) hired veteran federal prosecutor Daniel Goldman to run his committee’s investigation of Trump, his family and associates. Goldman has experience fighting Russian mobs.
