TOPEKA, Kan. (TCD) — A 32-year-old man is accused of intentionally setting fire to a house, killing a 30-year-old woman and two children, aged 9 and 1.
In a news release, the Topeka Fire Department said it responded to a fire at the house on Warren Avenue on Jan. 20 shortly before 5 a.m. attack.”
Inside the house, firefighters said they rescued an adult and a minor, and they were transported to hospital, where the child later died. Firefighters reportedly found another adult and a child who were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to firefighters, the deceased victims were identified as Genny Fitzpatrick and two children, Peyton Tyler and Kourtney Tyler.
On Saturday, January 21, the surviving adult, Kyle Tyler, was reportedly released from the hospital. Firefighters said he was questioned at the Law Enforcement Center and arrested for first-degree murder, aggravated arson and aggravated child endangerment. He remains held in the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on $1 million bond, records show.
Fitzpatrick and Kyle Tyler are reportedly having an affair, reports the Topeka Capital-Journal.
