KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two Kansas City sisters are looking for the pair of women who comforted them at an impossible moment during last year’s AFC championship game at Arrowhead Stadium.
Krista Belladonna was at the game on Jan. 30, 2022 with her sister Caroline.
While she was working overtime, Krista received a text from the shelter that takes care of her father telling her to call them.
Their father, Captain William Meyer, a former Marine fighter pilot turned TWA pilot, has died.
Instantly, memories of sitting on her father’s lap as a child watching Len Dawson run over Krista.
“I ran to the ladies’ room not expecting the news that my father was dead,” Krista said. “And that’s what they said. And I collapsed on the floor. And there were these two women there who came and helped me.
Krista said the women helped her find Caroline and stayed with them for comfort. She joked that the women’s husbands had banned them in the bathroom as a good luck charm for her bosses.
Almost exactly one year after this traumatic event, and with the same opponent, the memories are inevitable. Krista and Caroline want to find the two women from Section 321 and thank them.
“You helped us through one of the hardest times I’ve ever had in my life, and you knew enough to recognize someone in pain and do everything you could to help us,” Krista said.
“And I think it’s all Chiefs Kingdom, and I felt it when we came out.”
Krista will be watching this year’s AFC Championship in Chicago, where her husband’s band, Anthrax, performs.
