TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) — Wind chills are his morning’s main concern, as it will look like -5 to -15 Sunday morning with air temperatures this morning in the teens and low-single digits. This afternoon won’t find much relief with air temps in the 20’s and wind chills still around 10’s with a strong northerly 10 to 20 mph, gusts up to 25 mph. Skies are expected to remain overcast for much of today. We continue to get cold again on Monday and slightly warm by Tuesday.
Take the initiative:
Today: COLD and cloudy. Highs in the 20s, icy wind around 10º in the afternoon. N winds between 10 and 20 mph.
This evening: Mostly cloudy. Lows in single digits. N winds between 10 and 20 mph.
Monday: Partly cloudy. Highest in the 1920s. Winds from NE around 10 km/h.
Temperatures today will be stuck around 20 degrees with wind chills feeling closer to 10 degrees. Winds will be light from the north between 10 and 15 mph. Clouds will be persistent during the day, but there may be some holes in the cloud cover Sunday night through Monday. Sunday night air temperatures will be in the single digits and wind chill will be close to 0 degrees again by Monday morning. The cold continues on Monday afternoon with temperatures around 20°C.
Another cold night Monday evening in the single digits before warming slightly Tuesday afternoon to nearly 30º (day 3 below freezing). Skies however should be mostly sunny in the afternoon and winds will now be from the south between 5 and 10 mph. Even hotter Wednesday in the mid 30’s (again above freezing!) with partly cloudy skies. A weak cold front cuts through Wednesday night and temperatures are expected to hold steady in the mid-30s by Thursday.
It probably won’t be until Friday that many of us will see 40 degrees again. Friday will be normal with mostly sunny skies and light southwesterly winds. We should hit the mid-40s just in time for next weekend.
