WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Rain, sleet or snow, bad weather can drive some restaurants crazy!
“I try to be as open as possible because right now it’s kind of survival mode, you know, trying to survive where the world is probably going to go with the economy and stuff like that,” said Tanner Lucking, co-owner of Stone Oven Pizza .
Stone Oven Pizza co-owner Tanner Lucking said that when it’s cold outside, they typically see an increase in customers, and more specifically, an increase in delivery and delivery orders.
“I don’t let the employees do it. I make deliveries. Like, I’ll take the risk. I like drifting on the road, I don’t mind doing that, and yeah, I already told the employees tonight, like, I’ll pick you up. I will do it. That’s just how I am,” Lucking said.

“I think we just try to be outside the box. like I told you, the pizzas we make, like, I make one pizza a month, Philly Cheese Steak, Chicken Parmesan. Next month, I’m making a chicken fajita, this month it was a nacho pizza, so I try to be as original as possible,” Lucking said.
She adds that if you’re ordering takeout, just remember to be patient, as workers still need to drive safely, and know that tips are greatly appreciated, especially in freezing temperatures.
“Like last week, they were like, oh, bad weather, like, it melted as soon as it hit the ground, and we thought we might be busy, it wasn’t, but Monday could be completely different,” Lucking said.
For now, the team will be ready for whatever the next few days bring.
