TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – No injuries were reported in a rollover accident that slowed traffic for more than 30 minutes Tuesday morning on westbound Interstate 70 just east of downtown Topeka.
The accident was reported at approximately 8:45 am in the westbound lanes of I-70 just east of the SE California Avenue exit.
Kansas Highway Patrol officials told 13 NEWS on the spot that a brown Toyota Corolla car clipped the back of a semi-truck as both vehicles were heading west on I-70.
The collision caused the Toyota to flip over, authorities said. The Toyota ended up on its southeast-facing roof in the westbound left lane of I-70 near a concrete barrier separating eastbound and westbound traffic.
The trailer, meanwhile, stopped a short distance to the west, near the SE California Avenue exit from westbound I-70.
The two left lanes of westbound I-70 were closed in the area as crews responded to the crash.
Traffic was able to slowly move through the area in the right lane of westbound I-70 as crews cleared the scene.
