After spending more than a year on the market, one of Cerner Oracle’s large vacant offices, the former Continuous Campus in Wyandotte County, could soon see new life through redevelopment.
A rezoning application was filed last week for a mixed-use renovation of the Continuous Campus at 10200 Abilities Way, a 63.5-acre property in the Village West area near the Kansas Speedway and Legends Outlets Kansas City.
The Continuous Campus consists of two conjoined nine-story Class A office buildings totaling 660,000 square feet and 2,599 parking spaces in floor space. Oracle Cerner put it up for sale to qualified employees and developers through Colliers International in September 2021, during the transition to hybrid working for most employees.
The current zoning of the campus, under a CP-2 general business district, already allows for a number of uses of the project, including offices, hotels, and mixed commercial and residential facilities.
His proposed change in a CP-3 business district would still allow for such uses “by accommodating those businesses that are typically more offensive due to noise, bustle, appearance, hours of operation or the general image perceived by the public” , the unified government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, reads the Kansas code.
