LINCOLN, Neb./VERMILLION, SD – Nine distance runners will compete at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., while the rest of the Wichita State track and field team will travel to Vermillion, SD for the USD Alumni Meet on Friday and Saturday.

>> Adrian Diaz-Lopez aims to break the school record for indoor miles that Adam Moore set a year ago at the Ichabod Invite. He will have to run faster than 4:01.08, which he was within two seconds of at the January 21 Cyclone Open. his 5,000m season debut. He currently he ranks fifth all-time in school history in the event. >> Destiny Masters will compete in the 60m hurdles, high jump, long jump and 4x400m relay at the USD Alumni Meet following her Herm Wilson Invitational pentathlon performance earning her 13th in the NCAA . >> Joseph Holthusen looks to break the 8 second barrier for the first time this season after running at 8.00 to win the Herm Wilson Invitational on Saturday. He ran under eight seconds 14 times over the course of the 2020 and 2021 indoor seasons. >> As the Shockers cross the halfway point of the indoor season, the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala. are less than a month away.
LOOKING BACK
>> Six female Shockers and three men have added their names or improved their ratings to Wichita State’s all-time top 10 lists this season. >> Ridge Estes has thrown over 16 yards in shot put in back-to-back meetings and ranks fifth in the conference in the event. >> 16 Shockers finish in the top five in their conference events, with Masters and Adria Navajon leading the multi-events. >> With a top 16 per event in NCAA Qualifiers at the March 10-11 NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, NM, the No. Navajon sits No. 21 in the standings with his heptathlon score of 5,587 points at the Lindeman Invitational and will have a chance to improve on that score at the conference meet.
