WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A woman who was convicted of a burglary at the Wichita Falls Atwood store is now charged with another there, 5 years later, with similar details.
Christie Ann Boswell, 42, filed a new charge of Atwood theft today, February 15, 2023.
This alleged theft occurred on February 11, 2021, and the first charge was filed on August 5, 2016, for which she was convicted in September 2016. In the new indictment documents, Atwood employees said they took $236 of goods without paying and told them he believed he had paid for everything.
When they told her she only paid for $13.16 worth of merchandise, they said she would pay the rest, but wanted to put it on another card that was in her car.
They said she drove the goods and never came back, then called to say she would be back the next day to pay the rest, but she didn’t come then either.
Police said they contacted Boswell and she admitted she owed the money but said it was a botch caused by their faulty card equipment which indicated she had paid everything. They said she had assured them that she would go right away and pay the rest. Police said she never showed up and that she lied about details that indicated she intended to commit a burglary.
In 2016, Boswell pleaded guilty to a previous theft from Atwood’s.
Police said they were called and arrived to see the manager chasing a woman around the parking lot, and officers arrested and identified her as Boswell.
The manager and an employee said Boswell had stood by the front door with an armful of clothes before walking to the door without paying.
When the cashier asked where she was going, she said Boswell told her she had a receipt for the items in her car and would come back with it. The cashier and manager followed her outside and said Boswell jumped in the car and yelled at the driver “Go!” but the car would not start.
The manager stopped in front of the car while calling the police and said he started throwing clothes out the window.
When the car still wouldn’t start, they said Boswell got out and ran, just as police arrived on the scene. The value of the clothes was set at $227.
Police said Boswell has two convictions for theft. He has 19 arrests since 2001 which include 2 burglary charges, 3 larceny charges and 5 drug related charges.
