KANSAS CITY, Mo. – There have been at least two arrests related to the Chiefs Kingdom Champions Parade, which swept through the heart of downtown Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday and ended with a rally outside Union Station.
One person with a knife was arrested and another person who “assaulted an officer just off the parade route,” according to a KCPD spokesman.
The parade and rally celebrated the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory in Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Police have yet to confirm a full number of charges, but there have been at least those two arrests. That number could be revised higher in the coming days.
There were five people arrested – but only two formally booked – in connection with the 2020 Chiefs Kingdom Champions Parade, which used the same route from River Market in the south along Grand Boulevard in the west on West Pershing Road to Main Street.
There have been no significant incidents this year like the high-speed police chase down the parade route three years ago.
The KCPD also said there were 23 “missing or separated” children in the parade, far fewer than about 100 three years ago.
“Everyone was reunited with parents or guardians,” KCPD said on Twitter.
A total of 23 children were reported lost or separated today, all reunited with parents or guardians.
