Wichita’s second Boot Barn is now open at Eastgate Plaza.
“We felt there was (there was) opportunity as Wichita grew up on the East Side,” said Charlie Arbing, vice president of real estate and construction for California-based Boot Barn Holdings.
In 2015, the company acquired the Sheplers chain and its store at 6501 W. Kellogg.
“It’s always been a hub in Wichita,” Arbing said of that store.
Wichita’s second Boot Barn is now open at Eastgate Plaza, and the company is planning a grand opening party February 24-26.
The Sheplers chain began when JW Gibson opened the Gibson Harness Co. in what the Sheplers website called “a modest shop in Wichita, Kansas,” in 1899 and then grew with a variety of owners and shops.
The Eastgate store is located in 12,000 square feet where Famous Footwear once stood at Kellogg and Rock Road. It’s near Five Below and several doors east of TJ Maxx.
In addition to boots, the shop sells other western clothing.
“We like to say we can find homes for everyone,” Arbing said.
This includes people looking for workwear, women looking for suits, and men looking for casual wear.
“We have a home for them in our stores with a huge assortment.”
The shop is open 9am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 7pm on Sundays.
Arbing said there will be a grand opening celebration Feb. 24-26 with live music and giveaways.
“We kind of make it a fun weekend.”
