WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The largest fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters is here.
Local stars are gathering for a fun night of dancing under the lights, and it’s all for the kids.
“The show is sold out, so we’re going to pack. I saw all the rehearsals yesterday, the dancers are amazing so we know it’s going to be a rock star show. I have a big show, I have a big crowd. We’re mostly in excitement mode right now,” said Jean Hall, executive director of BBBS.
For eight years, local celebrities have been dancing to raise money to help the leading children’s mentoring relationship group. Every dollar raised stays right here in the community, and Hall said community support shows when it comes to kiddos, people love to support.
“We have been able to continue because there is great support from the community. From the beginning, we’ve had a great response, we’ve had companies and organizations saying we want to be a part of it, we want to help,” Hall said.
Our Chief Meteorologist Michael Bohling will be part of this year’s fun.
With months of practice, her dance instructor Luke Draper said audiences can enjoy a great routine.
“We have been training hard since November and Michael and Tila have been working very hard. They are super prepared and I am definitely thrilled to have Wichita Falls witness their moves,” Draper said.
With tables set, lights on, the MPEC is set for the perfect evening of entertainment with this year’s theme: ‘Back in the Day’.
“We’ve got a little bit of Usher in there, we’ve got DMX, we’ve got Rihanna, who just performed at the Super Bowl, so it was really good timing, then of course we had some TLC. So a little bit for everyone in there,” Draper said.
Fun for all the crowd, with a mission in mind.
“I think it says a lot about Wichita Falls that everybody here, this is for the kids, well I’m in for it. They say, oh this is a mission I support, it’s something I appreciate. The fact that they elevate the priority of helping children speaks volumes about Wichita Falls,” Hall said.
With ballet shoes it’s time to dance for the real protagonists, the young people of our area.
