Fans react to New England Patriots ticket price hike

Patriot ticket increase

To the patriots’ credit and in their defense, according to NESN reporter Zack Cox on TwitterThe hike coming for the 2023 season for the New England Patriots is apparently their first stadium-wide raise in 15 years.

But in a common sense defense, according to an NESN article by Zack, their first all-stadium surge in 15 years also comes from a two- or three-year playoff miss, and their last postseason win came more than four Years ago.

Bold move for Patriots tracksuits to raise stadium-wide prices Now.

In December, NESN reported that tickets to a Christmas Eve home game against the Cincinnati Bengals — a top NFL team that narrowly missed out on the Super Bowl — cost just $20.

Sure, it was pretty cold that day (according to Accuweather, the max was a freezing 17 degrees) but $20 tickets to a fucking Patriots game? You can barely buy anything for $20 now, let alone Pats tickets.

Which just goes to show how interest in the Pats, especially last season, has waned slightly. So to raise every ticket at home for next season? Just super cool timing.

Reactions to the Patriots ticket hike

You’d think fans would miss it on social media after finding out that stadium-wide ticket prices are surging after an 8-9 losing season and a genuine lack of postseason hits (or appearances) since the Pats beat the Rams in the Super Bowl in 2019. Especially with the reputation New England fans have for being, well, crazy.

But, in reality, the reaction has been mostly peaceful, at least in the comments section of a Tweet posted by ESPNPlus broadcaster and commentator, Shukri Wrights.

Some of the answers?

“To be fair, they haven’t raised their prices for the previous 15 years. That’s 3 Super Bowl winning seasons.” – Mulley

“It’s inflation. It has nothing to do with the team.” – Sammy James

“Surprised that this is their first hike in 15 years… The Jets and Giants raise ticket prices by a lot every year.” -Eddie

“There are 28 out of 32 teams raising their prices this year. I disagree, but it’s like everything else in this country.” – BOSTyN MONSTAH

For what it’s worth, even if ticket prices are going up stadium-wide, parking prices are loweredincluding some options for free parking and others for receiving a $50 Visa gift card depending on which parking lot you park at.
