Former KC man arrested in Mexico for producing child pornography
Working as a cabaret singer under another name
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A former Kansas City, Mo., man who moved to Mexico and lived under another name was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of producing child sexual abuse materials.
Wyatt Christopher Maxwell, also known as “Louis Whitaker,” 23, was indicted in a five-count indictment returned under seal by a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Mo., on Feb. 7, 2023. Such Indictment was opened and made public following Maxwell’s arrest in Mexico on February 14, 2023 and first court appearance in the Central District of California (in Los Angeles, California) on February 16, 2023.
Maxwell was living in Kansas City, Missouri at the time of the alleged crimes, but later moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where he went by the name “Louis Whitaker” as a cabaret singer.
The federal indictment alleges that Maxwell used an underage victim to produce child sexual abuse material between July 31, 2020 and February 1, 2021. The indictment also alleges that Maxwell transported the underage victim across state lines from Kansas to Missouri to commit in illegal sexual activities. .
Maxwell is also charged with two counts of distributing child sexual abuse materials on the Internet and one count of possession of child sexual abuse materials.
The charges contained in this indictment are mere allegations and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal jury, whose job it is to determine guilt or innocence.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Catherine A. Connelly. He was investigated by the FBI and the Overland Park, Kan., Police Department.
