Two women arrested after being shot while drunk

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Two women are behind bars after a gun was fired during a riot in Topeka and they bolted in a car that hit several fences while both were intoxicated.

The Topeka Police Department told 13 NEWS that on Monday, Feb. 20, officers were called to the 2000 block of SE Massachusetts Ave. with reports of a disturbance.

When officials arrived, they said witnesses said a woman later identified as Krislyn L. Collins, 22, fired a handgun during the riots.

TPD said a second woman, later identified as Amanda L. Lawhorn, 41, of Topeka, absconded with Collins before officials arrived. She hit several fences in the process.

Officials noted that no injuries were reported as a result of the crash. The pair were later found and both were arrested and enrolled in the Shawnee Co. Department of Corrections.

Collins was booked for driving under the influence, aggravated assault, battery and felony discharge of a firearm. He remains behind bars on $25,000 bail.

Lawhorn was charged with two counts of criminal damage to property, home battery, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, driving on the left side of the roadway, driving under the influence, failing to stop in an accident and battery to police forces. ‘order.
