WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) – Women’s wrestling hasn’t been a KSHSAA certified sport for a long time, but it has made a huge impact. Women’s state wrestling concluded today and we had many area winners in both 6A/5A and 4A-1A classes.
In the 6A/5A 140, Goddard’s Ashlynn Goodwin capped off one of the best careers in Kansas history by winning another state title. He finishes the year 45-1.
In 6A/5A 110, in the most competitive weight classes, Hays’ Sarah Zimmerman topped the bracket to take home the title. She beat Hutchinson’s Anna Cullens for the win and finished her senior season 35-1. Cullens finished 29-3.
In 4A-1A 170, Minneapolis’ Grace Johns was the runner-up last year, but she took the distance this season to claim a state card. Her brother will fight in Minneapolis starting tomorrow for a chance to win his state title
