WE WILL DRY THINGS AGAIN. IS COMING. WELL, LEGALIZING SPORTS BETTING IS A STEP CLOSER IN MISSOURI, WHERE A STATE HOUSE COMMITTEE HAS MOVED THE GAMING BILL TO THE HOUSE FLOOR FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. MISSOURI PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO GO TO BED LEGALLY IN KANSAS, IOWA, ILLINOIS OR ARKANSAS. AND IT’S BEAUTIFUL. DENNIS EVANS TELLS US HOW MISSOURIANS WILL SOON BE ABLE TO BET ON SPORTS. IF THINGS GO AS EXPECTED, THE CUSTOMER EXODUS MAY END, WITH THE POSSIBILITY THAT MISSOURI MAY SOON ENTER KANSAS INTO THE LEGAL SPORTS GAMING ARENA. WHEN YOU HAVE A STATE LINE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE, KANSAS AND MISSOURI, I THINK THEY NEED TO PUT TOGETHER AND MAKE IT UNDERSTAND. FOR NOW, MISSOURI IS PLAYING TO CATCH UP WITH ITS NEIGHBORS, BUT IT’S A GOOD BET THEY WON’T BE BACK FOR LONG. THERE ARE SOME PLACES ACROSS THE STATE LINE THAT ARE REALLY, VERY BUSY AND ARE REALLY BENEFITING FROM IT. When sports gambling first became legal just over a mile away across the state line, The Granfalloon didn’t think it was a big deal. But gradually, The Plaza sports bar started to notice that patrons were heading to the outings on big sports days. “People realize there’s a lot of fun stuff, little gimmicks, they go to the Kansas side and they used to come back and now they stay over there,” said Tim Caniglia, the owner of The Granfalloon. Missouri went one step further on Thursday to make it happen: If things go as planned, that exodus of customers could end in Missouri joining Kansas in the arena of legal sports gambling. For now, Missouri is trying to catch up with its neighbor, but it’s a good bet they won’t fall behind for long.
