KANSAS CITY, Mo. – South Dakota State pushed its hitting streak to 17 games Thursday night with an 86-52 win over Kansas City at Swinney Center.

The Jackrabbits go undefeated in Summit League play at 17-0 and improve to 23-5 on the season. Kansas City drops to 7-21 on the year and 3-14 in conference action.

Myah Selland had an all-around night, putting up 17 points for the Jacks on perfect 7-of-7 shooting. She hit 10 of SDSU’s first 15 and finished with 15 points in the first half. Selland also tallied four assists and three steals — matching a team high — and grabbed four rebounds.

Haleigh Timmer led all scorers with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting that included four 3-pointers. He also had four rebounds, three steals and one block.

Paiton Burckhard and Kallie Theisen also posted double digits for SDSU. Burckhard contributed 14 points (6-of-8) along with four rebounds, four assists and one steal. Theisen had 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal.

Selland’s 10 points in the first quarter helped the team take a 23-13 lead after 10 minutes, then the Jacks extended their lead to 17 at halftime, 47-30. Timmer had the first five points of the second half, sparking a 20-2 run by Jackrabbit that really put the game out of reach at 67-32 at the end of the third period.

Paige Meyer and Brooklyn Meyer were close as double-digit scorers with nine and seven points, respectively. Tori Nelson and Dru Gylten each provided three assists. Nelson also recorded the 100th block of his Jackrabbit career in the game, a mark that ranks 11th in program history.

The Jackrabbits shot nearly 55% from the field, the 14th time this year they’ve shot more than . 500 and 45% from the 3-point line. KC was held to 37% shooting and 35% from beyond the arc.

SDSU was disciplined defensively, committing just four fouls that resulted in just two free throws by Roo in 40 minutes.

Kansas City was led by 15 points by Manna Mensah and 11 by E’Lease Stafford. Jocelyn Ewell grabbed six rebounds.

NOTES

  • Paiton Burckhard played in her 159th career game for SDSU, tying her with Tylee Irwin (2017-2022) for the program’s all-time career attendance record.
  • This is the second time in Myah Selland’s career that she has had a perfect night off the floor. She went 3 for 3 against Omaha in the 2018-19 season.
  • The Jacks have recorded at least 20 assists 11 times this season.
