Severe thunderstorms are likely to develop around San Antonio and the Hill Country as a cold front moves into the I-35 corridor on Saturday, Jan. 7.

The National Service issued a notice that there is a slight risk of a storm developing between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in areas “generally near and east of I-35 and I-37.” Although the risk is negligible, the NWS said that any major storms that do develop will be capable of causing localized heavy rainfall, heavy hail and damaging wind gusts.

Storms are expected to develop both before and after a cold front that will drop temperatures to the mid-40s and 50s on Sunday morning, Jan. 8.

Rain chances will continue throughout the week until Thursday, after which sunny days are currently forecast for the weekend.
