At least 3 families fled their homes after a fire broke out in a home in northeast Bexar County, officials said.

At least three families in northeastern Bexar County are looking for a new place to live after a large fire destroyed the home Sunday afternoon, fire officials said.

The fire broke out just after 3 p.m. Sunday in the 8900 block of Twin Creekfarm, off Crestway Road near FM 78.

Firefighters had to defend themselves against the blaze, but were eventually able to bring it under control, Bexar County fire officials said.

The people who were in the house and their pets got out of the fire safely and were not injured. However, they are still looking for the dog. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Firefighters declared the house completely lost, and at least three families were displaced.

Converse Fire Department, Kirby Fire Department and Randolph Fire Department assisted in the response.
