ATCEMS: 2 people sent to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 in downtown Austin.

Austin (KXAN) — Two people were taken to hospital after at least seven vehicles were involved in an accident Sunday on Interstate 35 North southbound. This was stated in a tweet from the Austin-Travis County Ambulance Service.

Doctors said the injuries did not pose a threat to life. One of the wounded was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center and the other to St. David’s North Medical Center.

The accident was reported to 911 around 18:45. According to ATCEMS, the crash occurred on the lower deck of southbound I-35. The location is reported to be near Concordia Drive in downtown Austin.

ATCEMS responded with three ambulances and an ambulance commander also arrived on the scene. Austin Fire and Austin Police are also responding to the scene.

ATCEMS said all lanes to the south are closed and that drivers should expect road closures and delays in the area.
