Connor Jones Commits to Delta State

Charles Henderson forward Connor Jones will play college football for Delta State University.

On January 24, senior forward Charles Henderson Connor Jones decided to play college football at Delta State University in Mississippi.

Jones earned All-Messenger honors as a senior player with a 97 percent winning percentage due to his offensive position. The 6ft 5in and 290lbs also earned 50 pancake blocks for the season.

Last weekend, Jones received a preferred offer from Troy University along with college offers from Delta State, Millsaps College, West Alabama, Lane College, Huntingdon College, Westminster University, Maryville College, Campbellsville, Culver-Stockton College, Florida Memorial. University and Pikeville.

“When I went to visit, I felt right at home there,” Jones said of his decision to join Delta State. “The premises were really good and I bonded very well with all the players. I felt like I was in high school, we all hung out and I felt right at home.

“The city is nice too and like I said the facilities are really good. They have a really good gym with a protein bar. They care about their players.”

Delta State finished the season 11-2, in which the Statesmen won the Gulf South Conference championship and reached 9th place in Division II before losing to West Florida in the second round of the Division II playoffs. Delta State has a rich football tradition, with eight conference championships since 1998, four regional championships since 2000, and a Division II national championship.

Jones, who said he was leaning towards either sports management or business, set some simple goals for the college.

“I just want to have a successful career and keep winning,” Jones said categorically.

National Signing Day will be February 1st.
