Emporia Police say an Olathe man was injured in a Monday night pedestrian crash outside Emporia State University.
Police Captain Lisa Hayes says the incident occurred shortly after 6:50 p.m. in the 1500 block of Merchant. The pedestrian, 21-year-old William Hillyer, was on the crosswalk when he was hit by a truck driven by 78-year-old Larry Hartup of Emporia.
Hillyer sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Hartup and an unnamed passenger were observed at the scene but declined trips to the hospital.
Sage says Hartup was cited for failing to give way to a pedestrian on a crosswalk.
8:30 PM Monday: One person injured in vehicle-to-pedestrian collision outside Emporia State University
One person was injured after a shipwreck north of Emporia on Monday evening.
Emporia Police, Emporia State Police and Emporia Security and Fire Department responded to 15th and Merchant after a reported vehicle-to-pedestrian crash shortly before 7:00 p.m. The pedestrian, currently unnamed, was taken to Newman Regional Health with what Emporia Fire calls moderate to serious injuries.
Two people in a pick-up truck allegedly involved in the sinking were observed but later declined trips to hospital.
Further details on the crash are currently pending.
