WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Crime Stoppers of Wichita-Sedgwick County is seeking information on a shooting that injured a child in western Wichita.
According to a Crime Stoppers press release, the shooting occurred on Sunday, Jan. 22, in the 1900 block of S. St. Clair Ave. at approximately 6:50 p.m.
Crime Stoppers says officers responded to the area after receiving multiple reports from callers who said they heard gunfire in the area and at least one vehicle driving away.
When officers arrived, they not only found evidence on the street, but also discovered that a residence in the area had been shot at.
A person inside the residence was hit, a 9-year-old boy. He was treated on the spot for a minor injury.
According to the press release, officers were notified that a white Dodge Neon was traveling north on St. Clair from May Street when a silver gray SUV began following it. The SUV’s occupants then began firing at the Neon.
Officers were able to locate the driver of the Neon and his vehicle. The driver was unhurt, but the vehicle was damaged.
Crime Stoppers provided video footage from a Ring camera showing vehicles driving through St. Clair. More than 20 shots are heard as vehicles pass.
