EL PASO, TX (KTSM) — Since early 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in the El Paso area have detained 62 people with outstanding warrants.
On Jan. 7, CBP employees confronted a 42-year-old Venezuelan who had arrived from Mexico on footpaths at the Paso del Norte border crossing. Initial system queries revealed an outstanding child sex offense warrant from the Wake County Sheriff’s Office in Raleigh, North Carolina.
On January 10, CBP employees confronted a 56-year-old male, a US citizen, who had arrived from Mexico on footpaths at the Isleta entry point. A check of his file revealed an outstanding murder warrant from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in Brighton, Colorado.
On January 21, CBP officials determined that a 56-year-old US citizen arriving by car from Mexico had an outstanding warrant for criminal sexual contact with a minor, a child under 13, from the Leah County Sheriff’s Office in Lovington. New Mexico.
The remaining 59 arrested are wanted on a range of charges, including child abuse, child molestation, child abuse and assault.
These individuals were arrested by CBP officers and handed over to local authorities.
