Election packs available to race for Richardson City Council

Campaign packages are now available to potential candidates applying for seats on the Richardson City Council.

Council seats 1 to 6 and Mayor Richardson will be on the ballot for the May 5, 2023 election.

Richardson holds city council elections every two years.

The first day to apply for a seat on the 2023 ballot is Wednesday, January 18, and the last day is Friday, February 17 at 5:00 pm.

Packages can be picked up in person during regular business hours at Richardson IQ® Headquarters, 1301 E. Collins Boulevard.

An e-packet can be requested by email to City Secretary Aimee Nemer.

New candidates are advised to schedule a meeting with Nemer to review the package and electoral procedures, the city said in a statement.

General qualifications:

  • The 1st seat candidate must be a resident of District 1.
  • A candidate for 2nd seat on the council must be a resident of District 2.
  • The 3rd seat councilor candidate must be a resident of District 3.
  • A candidate for 4th seat on the council must be a resident of District 4.
  • Councilman seat 5 at large
  • Councilman seat 6 at large
  • Mayor (seat 7) at large

Qualified candidates must be:

  • US citizen
  • Registered voter on election date
  • A resident of the City of Richardson for at least one year prior to the election date.
  • At least 21 years old
