Tilsonburg/Getty ImagesAccording to a Fox 13 report, a small plane crashed in South Texas on Tuesday, January 17, killing four church members in Tennessee and hospitalizing a pastor. The victims were identified by a church in the Memphis area they attended.
The Piper PA-46-350P crashed near Yoakum, the National Transportation Safety Board said on Tuesday. The Piper PA-46-350P is a small, single-engine aircraft that typically seats one pilot and five passengers.
Crossroads Today reports that the plane crashed in fog around 11 a.m. a mile from Yoakum Municipal Airport near County Road 462 and FM 318 in Lavaca County.
The Germantown Harvest Church identified the four members killed as Bill Garner, Steve Tucker, Tyler Patterson, and Tyler Springer. Pastor Kennon Vaughan is reported to be in a hospital in Texas in a stable condition.
“We ask for your prayers and kindly request that the families of all involved be given a proper place to mourn at this time,” the church said in a social media post. “We are hungry for your prayers.”
Yoakum is located 100 miles east of San Antonio. At the time of writing, the NTSB has not made any preliminary findings about the cause of the failure.
In December 2022, two people were injured when a small plane crashed in the North Texas area.
