HEB in San Antonio begins plan to open second store in Frisco

HEB continues its expansion in North Texas after starting possible plans to open a second store in Frisco. The San Antonio grocery store chain requested a 30-day extension to transfer and site plan on land it already owns during a meeting of the Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday, Jan. 9.

Frisco staff are recommending that the commission approve an expansion of a future HEB store near Little Em, according to city documents. Site plans list one retail grocery store with two drivers, additional gas stations, and a car wash.

The grocery giant first entered the Dallas-Fort With metroplex with a Frisco store in September 2022. When the store opened, video from reporters showed long lines of people lined up outside the door before it opened in Frisco. Crowds lined up again for another store to open as HEB welcomed guests to its Plano establishment in November 2022.

Shortly after opening in Frisco and Plano in November 2022, HEB opened a 117,000-square-foot store north of Fort Worth. The giant’s efforts to expand the store in the DFW area.
