State legislators are working in the Texas Capitol to pass the state budget and other laws over the next five months. Their actions could affect the daily lives of Texans, from public school funding, property taxes and health care to access to electricity during extreme weather events.

But we don’t just want to report breaking news from the Capitol. We want our reporting to answer questions and reflect the needs of ordinary Texans. So we want to hear from you.

What is the first thing legislators need to decide? What else do you need to navigate or understand when it comes to Texas politics or state government?

We are looking for answers that go beyond one word answers or terms like “climate change”. The more specific you are, the easier it is for us to know exactly how we can help you.

We won’t be able to answer every question or answer, but we will use general questions and topics to guide our communications.
