Houston officer injured in overnight DWI crash

HOUSTON, TX (KIAH) — One Houston officer was sent to the hospital after being hit by a car early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred just after 2 a.m., when the driver of the orange sedan cut the median at the East Loop and 45 North Freeway. In doing so, the driver cracked her oil pan, causing her car to block several lanes.

The semi-trailer was forced to pull off the road to avoid colliding with her car.

Shortly thereafter, a Houston police officer arrived and attempted to block incoming traffic with his patrol car. Suddenly, the driver of a blue Kia sedan crashed into a police car.

The officer was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

According to police, the driver of the blue sedan was drunk driving and was arrested.

The driver of the orange sedan is expected to be held accountable for the first crash.

At the moment there is no other information.
