HOUSTON (KWTX) – A patron shot dead a robbery suspect at a Mexican restaurant in Houston late Thursday night, officials said.
According to the Houston Police Department, the shooting occurred at ranch #4 around 11:30 p.m.
Witnesses told police that a man wearing a ski mask entered the restaurant and pointed a gun at the patrons, demanding their money.
While the suspect was collecting money, one of the customers pulled out his gun and shot the suspect several times, killing him, police said.
The shooter then took all the stolen money from the robber and returned the money to other buyers before fleeing the scene.
Arrived at the scene rescuers ascertained the death of the suspect in the robbery. Police said it was a man in his 20s, but his identity is pending verification.
Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the shooter. No charges were brought.
“Investigators want to talk to the man about his role in the shooting,” police said in a statement.
Police have released CCTV footage of the client they are looking for, as well as his vehicle, a red 1970s or 1980s model pickup truck with a rusty hood and no bodywork.
