In November 2022, Britt Reid, a former Kansas City Chiefs head coach and son of Super Bowl winner Andy Reid, was sentenced to three years after pleading guilty to a DWI misdemeanor. Britt, who was unemployed following his coaching stint with the Linebackers and Outside Linebackers, was sentenced after causing a bad car accident in early 2021.
The crash seriously injured five-year-old Ariel Young, who suffered a head injury and was in a coma for 11 days. The accident occurred on February 4, 2021, due to an intoxicated Britt Reid.
When officers arrived, Reid admitted to driving while intoxicated, but said he did not see the vehicles, as the lights were out. Witnesses and authorities said Reid was going 18 mph over the posted speed limit of 65 and had a blood alcohol content of .113, five points over the legal limit.
Reid pleaded guilty in the case and was especially appalled at the damage it caused to all parties involved. He was sentenced to three years in prison on November 1, 2022.

Who is Brit Reid?
Britt Reid is a former high school football player and career coach. She is the son of Super Bowl winning coach Andy Reid and has worked with his father in various roles since 2009. His first NFL job was as an intern training camp coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles. You performed quite well there and joined the Kansas City Chiefs as the defensive quality control coach in 2013.
Britt Reid has never been in the spotlight in his professional coaching career, but he did serve as his father’s trusted assistant. He has served as the defensive quality control coach, assistant defensive line coach, defensive line coach, and linebackers / outside linebackers coach. Unfortunately for Britt, his contract was not renewed due to his legal troubles in his final years on the Chiefs’ coaching staff.
What are Britt Reid’s legal woes?
Britt Reid has always been close to trouble in her adult life, as it doesn’t seem like coach Andy Reid’s son can learn from her mistakes.
First, in 2007, he was sentenced to between 8 and 23 months in prison along with his brother Garrett Reid for running a mini drug empire out of his father’s house. As if that wasn’t enough, he was involved in a road rage incident in which he threw a firearm at another road user. Fortunately for the Reid family, the lawsuit was settled seven years later. That was all before the unfortunate car crash on February 4, 2021.
Whether his three-year prison sentence will put young Reid on the right track remains to be seen. However, his destructive behavior has begun to affect others outside of his family and inner circle.
