The Kansas City Royals have announced that manager Ned Yost has been inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame. He will become the 27th candidate on the team. Yost is the Royals’ all-time leader in managerial wins (746) and was the first skipper to lead the Royals to consecutive World Series appearances (2014, 2015). Yost was elected in his first appearance by a ballot of living Royals Hall of Fame inductees and Royals Hall of Fame executive committee members, select members of the Kansas City chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America, Kansas City media representatives , current Royals front office personnel with 15 years of service or more, and Royals fan via an online ballot. To be eligible for ballot, Royals Alumni must have been active with the baseball club for at least three (3) seasons and accumulate a minimum of 1,500 plate appearances or 300 innings pitched or managed the equivalent of three full seasons. The 16th full-time head coach in team history, Yost was named to the post on May 13, 2010. Yost led the Royals to a 22-9 postseason record for a .710 winning percentage, which set a MLB scoring for managers who have managed at least 20 postseason games. His 2014 club was the first in major league history to start the postseason with an eight-game hitting streak. The following season, she led the Royals to their second World Series title by defeating the Mets and bringing Kansas City its second championship and first since 1985. She finished her career 32nd all-time in games managed in the MLB history, with 2,544, three more than National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Earl Weaver.
