Killeen ISD Investigates ‘Extremely Disturbing’ Assignment Given to Rancier High School Students

KILLIN, TexasKWTX)- The Killeen Independent School District is investigating a “terrible and extremely disturbing” assignment given to students by a “now former” Rancier High School teacher.

The county “immediately launched an investigation upon becoming aware” of the appointment, ISD Superintendent Killin Dr. John Kraft said in a letter to parents obtained by KWTX.

“The appointment does not support or reflect the core values of Killeen ISD. There is no argument to justify such an insulting gesture, and we deeply regret that the assignment was created and distributed to even a small group of students,” Kraft said.

“The classwork was inappropriate, tactless, and miserably inconsistent with our mission.”

Kraft said the county would continue to investigate and interview all people “who may have known about this terrible case.”

The superintendent’s letter to the parents said: “We are sorry that this incident occurred and we are committed to addressing such situations promptly.”

Kraft said parents of students affected by the assignment have been personally contacted by the campus director.

“We reiterate that any such behavior is unacceptable at Killeen ISD,” Kraft said.
