Killeen robbery suspect arrested after crashing into power pole while chasing police

KILLIN, TX (KWTX) – The Killeen Police Department is investigating an aggravated robbery that took place Monday night.

The officers were sent at approximately 8:45 pm on January 9 to block 4600 Frontier Trail in connection with the robbery.

According to the victim, a dark-skinned suspect approached him at gunpoint and demanded his wallet, phone and Honda Civic. The suspect then fled the scene in a Civic.

Officers later located the Honda near Stan Schlueter Loop and Mesa Drive at 9:09 pm and attempted to stop traffic, but the suspected driver refused to stop.

The car sped off westbound on Elms Road with the police in pursuit. The driver attempted to turn south on Trimmer Road but lost control and crashed into a pole. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.

“A collision with a utility pole resulted in a power outage in the area and Oncor is currently carrying out repairs at the scene,” said Ofelia Miramontez, Killeen Police spokeswoman.

This case is active and the charges are pending before the Bell County District Attorney’s office.
