North Texas guard DeSean Gaddy enters the transfer portal

DeSean Gaddy came to North Texas as one of the most popular Mean Green recruits of the past few years in 2019.

Former Arlington standout Lamar announced on Monday that he is entering the transfer portal after capitalizing on his talent and growing into one of Mean Green’s top players.

Gaddy finished with 61 tackles, interrupted 13 passes and forced two fumbles last season when he helped secure a UNT side ball at wide back. He has two years of eligibility left.

Gaddy announced his decision to move on his Twitter account.

“I want to thank the University of North Texas for everything they have done for me over the past 4 years here,” Gaddy wrote. “Performing and playing here was probably one of the best things I’ve ever done.”

Gaddy is expected to become a hot commodity on the transfer market after proving to be one of UNT’s more versatile players. During his time at Mean Green, he played as both cornerback and quarterback.

Gaddy was awarded an honorable mention in All Conference USA elections last season. He is the second key player that UNT has lost to Transfer Portal in the past few weeks.

Tight end Jake Roberts, another All-C-USA honoree, entered the portal and landed at Baylor.

UNT brought in a trio of Portal players who could help make up for his losses. Former Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Chandler Rodgers led this transfer group, which also includes former Georgia Tech offensive lineman Paula Vaipulu and Texas Tech offensive lineman Larry Moore III.
