Notice: City of Osage City is seeking cemetery mowing offers for 2023

The Town of Osage City is soliciting mowing offers for the Union Cemetery and American Cemetery located along K-31 highway north of the city. Both graveyards are to be mowed as one unit, with a maximum of 20 mowing times per growing season from April 1, 2023 to October 31, 2023. In addition, bids may be submitted for a second mowing season if the grower so desires. mowing contractor. The mowing contractor will provide all equipment, tools, and supplies to present a uniform, pleasing appearance throughout the growing season.
Each mowing must include the collection of all trash including cans, rocks, bottles, paper, trash, plastic flowers, excess branches, debris or other miscellaneous materials prior to each mowing. Each mow includes the finishing of stones, posts, fences, buildings, trees and any object that is part of the cemetery property. Mowing should be conducted to avoid blowing wet grass onto headstones, keeping headstones as clean as possible. Particular emphasis must be placed on avoiding scalping of the grass due to sharp turns of the cutting equipment or cutting too short. The final grass height should be between 3 1/2″ and 4″ with the mowing contractor re-seeding any areas that are cut too close together or burned by the equipment. The mowing contractor will report all damage caused by mowing and trimming, as well as any vandalism, to the Town of Osage City as soon as possible. Commercial general liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 is required.
The grass will need to be mowed and trimmed more often during cooler, wetter weather. When temperatures are extremely hot, the grass may not need to be mowed for several weeks.
