Police identify victim and man accused of shooting at Tyler Bank

A 19-year-old has been charged with a shooting that wounded a man at a Tyler bank on Tuesday afternoon.

Jacob Wayne Gore, 19, of Tyler, is accused of shooting a man at a Texas bank on Rhone Quarter Road in Tyler around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to Tyler Police Department spokesman Andy Erbo.

Police responded to the shooting Tuesday afternoon and found Dalton Morgan, 41, of Henderson, in an ambulance receiving medical treatment after being shot in the back, Erbo said.

Police were told that Gore left the bank in a car while they were arriving at the scene. While officers were still at the scene, a car containing Gore and a family member pulled up in the bank’s parking lot, Erbeau said.

Gore was taken into custody for questioning on Tuesday without incident, and on Wednesday Herbo said he was formally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was incarcerated in the Smith County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Morgan is in a local hospital and his condition remains stable as of Wednesday, Herbo said.
