rodeo houston grand marshal

Leon Coffey has been one of the most recognizable faces of RodeoHouston over the past three decades. In honor of his 30th birthday, the legendary barrel hunter who makes a living by hunting bulls has been named Grand Marshal of the downtown rodeo parade.

Coffee, the rock star of the rodeo clowns, walks the fine line between danger and pleasure every night. This is a guy in a barrel trying to distract an angry bull after the rider is confused.

He’s had more than his share of close calls and broken bones, but Coffey loves his job.

“I treasure it. I cherish the days I have left in my career,” the Texas native told us back in 2013.

Coffee is a celebrity in the rodeo world, a member of the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and PRCA Clown of the Year in 1983.

“Leon Coffey is an icon and a favorite of Rodeo fans as he turns 30 as our barrel and friend in 2023, making him the perfect candidate to lead our parade as Grand Marshal,” said Chris Boulman, President and CEO of Rodeo.

Rodeo parade on Saturday, February 25 at 10:00 am.
