Ron Holland, Texas Longhorns basketball team rookie named to McDonald’s All-American.

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Duncanville Star Forward and Texas Longhorns recruit Ron Holland was named to the West’s squad for McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Game.

Both rosters were announced Tuesday, and Holland is the only Longhorns rookie to make the West or East team. Kentucky has five recruits scattered across both teams, while Duke has three. As for the Big 12 schools, Baylor rookie Ja’Kobe Walter, Oklahoma State rookie Brandon Garrison and Iowa State rookie Omaha Billew are all part of the West along with Holland. Kansas recruit Elmarco Jackson is on the Eastern roster.

Holland is rated as a 5-star rookie by 247Sports.com and is ranked 6th among rookies in the nation and best at power forward. He was at the Moody Center to see the Longhorns come from behind to defeat the Texas Tech Red Raiders 72-70 on January 14.

Holland and AJ Johnson have signed letters of intent to play for the Longhorns next season. The normal period for NCAA Division I basketball programs for players to sign MoUs for next season begins April 12 and runs through May 17.

Madison Booker, a recruit for the Texas Longhorns women’s basketball team from Germantown High School in Ridgeland, Mississippi, made the West’s girls’ team. Boys and Girls The All-American Games will be held March 28 at the Toyota Center in Houston.
