Shiffrin’s pursuit of a record 83rd win moves on to the next resort

CORTINA D’AMPEZZO – CORTINA D’Pursuit of American skier Mikaela Shiffrin record 83rd World Championship win will move on to the next stop on the track.

Shiffrin finished seventh in the super-G on Sunday, 0.62 seconds behind leader Ragnhild Mowinkel, with other skiers still on the course that will host the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics.

It was third race in a row in Cortina that Shiffrin missed the podium.

Her next chances are to break the tie with former teammate Lindsey Vonn The women’s record will be set in two giant slaloms at Kronplatz in nearby San Vigilio di Marebbe on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mowinkel was 0.30 seconds ahead of Cornelia Hütter and 0.47 seconds ahead of Martha Bassino.

Prominent Italian Sofia Goggia withdrew from the race after falling a day earlier due to pain in her right knee.
