The free KSAT News app has just undergone a major overhaul to provide readers like you with the best source of local news, videos and live streaming.
New Features in KSAT App
The sleek new KSAT app will allow users to customize their preferences and tailor their news feed to the stories that matter most to them with a free Insider Login.
It will also allow logged in users to comment on articles and interact with other readers on the article bulletin board.
The app also features an updated video player that provides cleaner and easier-to-use videos and live streams.
You can also swipe right on the app to open the news feed you’re used to seeing in previous versions of the app.
How to get the new KSAT app
If you already have a current KSAT app, you don’t need to uninstall it or install a new app, you just need to update your current one.
You can do this by going to settings or by visiting the app store and updating manually.
If you don’t have the KSAT app yet, now is the time to download it. Just go to your phone’s app store and search for KSAT. Or here are some direct links:
Login to the new KSAT News app
We recommend signing in to the app before trying it out. All features are most easily accessible when you are logged in. If you already have a free login to the KSAT website, you will use the same login. If you don’t, you can create an in-app login.
Here’s how to do it:
Click on the menu icon next to the KSAT logo.
Tap the gear icon to access the user login interface.
Click Sign In and when prompted, click Continue to open the sign in dialog.
If you have a KSAT login, enter it. If you don’t, this is where you’ll create it.
You will only need to log into the app once to access exclusive insider content, share photos via KSAT Connect and comment.
Setting up the new KSAT News app
You will navigate through the new application by clicking on menu icon at the top of the screen. This is the one that has three dots and three lines.
We’ve redesigned the app to provide customization options for users.
To customize the news feed, select “Customize page“. The settings screen will let you choose how you want to view your home page feed.
To add or rearrange categories, you can click the green “plus circle” to add sections to the list of included topics.
To reorder, simply tap, hold and drag a tab.
If there is a theme you don’t want to see on your home page, you can remove it by clicking on the red “minus circle” and then confirm that you want to remove it from your list.
You will need save your changes in the upper right corner of the screen.
Insiders who log into the new KSAT app will see an exclusive section dedicated to insider content. Some articles will only be available to authorized insiders.
Save your favorite articles
The new KSAT news app lets you save your favorite articles so you can reread them later.
To save an article, select star at the top of the article screen.
You can view your saved articles by tapping the star icon at the top center of our menu screen.
Watch live broadcasts on the KSAT app
Video quality has been improved in the new KSAT app.
The home screen will display tooltips indicating when a live stream is currently in progress based on the time.
The app also has a section dedicated to live streaming options.
People using the app with an Apple device will get additional features, including picture-in-picture viewing and Airplay streaming.
The picture-in-picture view allows you to continue browsing your favorite articles while the live stream is playing wherever you drag the mini player on the screen.
Airplay Broadcasting means you can stream the live stream to other Apple devices or compatible devices for viewing.
Accessing the KSAT Weather App
Users of the KSAT News app will now be able to navigate to the KSAT Weather Authority app from the home screen by clicking the weather icon. You can also access it from the pull-out menu.
To access this feature, a person must also download the KSAT Weather Authority app on their device.
