The Universal Studios theme park will soon be a short drive from Austin, the Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday morning.
Although the opening date is not yet known, here is what we know so far:
What are the details of the sale?
According to county documents obtained by the Dallas Morning News, Universal Parks & Resorts purchased the land back in December under a shell company in Delaware. Frisco executives also spent months working out the details with the theme park giant.
The theme park will cater to families, the Dallas Morning News reported, with Bloomberg adding that the new project will have a special focus on young children.

How big will the park be?
The Dallas Morning News reported that Universal Parks & Resorts has purchased nearly 100 acres of land in the Fields development on Dallas’ northern toll road. This is a smaller area than Universal Studios’ current U.S. theme parks in Florida and California, which cover 541 acres and 400 acres, respectively. Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Beijing cover 130 acres, while Universal Studios Singapore is only 49 acres.

What sights should we expect?
The specific rides, such as roller coasters and 3D rides that the current parks are famous for, currently remain a mystery. However, Mark Woodbury, chairman and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts, told the Dallas Morning News that the park will be a one- or two-night stay with a 300-room hotel. Bloomberg reported that the theme park will host shows and character encounters.
