WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) – As we enter tax season, a new resource for low to moderate income families in Wichita Falls is officially open.
The free North Texas Area United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site is now available at 3301 Armory Road, behind the Boys and Girls Club.
Last year alone, the VITA program helped 3,100 individuals and families save more than $1 million in tax preparation expenses. He also put $5 million into our community through repayments.
“The goal of this program is to help people get out of poverty and even though a lot of your low to moderate income earners don’t feel like they’re in poverty and that’s fine, it’s to give them a head start, just a little bit of a little boost. if you don’t have to spend the $300 to get your taxes, or the 150, that’s 300 you can spend on groceries, or a light bill or something else just to get you a little further in the game,” said Genevieve Anderson, director of the VITA program.
You can use VITA’s services if your annual family income is $64,000 or less.
United Way also has several VITA headquarters in the area on various dates and times, including Henrietta, Electra, and the Wichita Falls Housing Authority.
