WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) – A retailer of home furnishings and small appliances will soon add its name to the list of national retailers that have closed their stores in Wichita Falls in recent years.
On Tuesday morning, Feb. 14, 2023, Tuesday Morning officials announced that the company had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and would close more than half of its 487 U.S. stores.
According to the Dallas Business Journal, the company planned to close stores in low-traffic regions of the United States in an effort to “optimize its footprint and focus on core and historic markets.”
Their Wichita Falls store, located at 4319 Kemp Boulevard between Petco and Specs, is one of the stores listed among 24 stores in Texas that will close their doors.
It’s unclear at this time when the Wichita Falls location will permanently close, but according to the filing, the process of closing more than half of Tuesday Morning stores across the U.S. is expected to take about eight weeks.
This marks the second national discount retailer to announce plans to permanently close its doors in Wichita Falls in less than a week.
On Friday, February 10, 2023, Texoma’s Homepage confirmed with Dirt Cheap employees that their Wichita Falls location, the former headquarters of Hastings Entertainment, will close as early as March 10, 2023.
