WIKIEUP, AZ — A section of US 93 was closed after a car left the road Tuesday morning.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the collision occurred near Mile 129, near Wikiup.
The commercial vehicle reportedly flew over the bridge and fell into a ravine in the canyon from the southern lanes.
Police say the driver was killed.
Southbound lanes were closed due to an investigation into the accident and the diesel spill. Traffic on the streets opened around 10:30.
The cause of the crash has not yet been established.
It happened in an area that is known for frequent accidents, many of which claim lives.
Last weekend, two people died and at least two others were injured in a serious crash on US 93 north of Wickenburg.

US 93 is the primary route for drivers between Phoenix and Las Vegas. In 2021, ABC15 surveyed the area from mile 199, where US 93 splits from US 60 in Wickenburg, to mile marker 120, which is just north of Wikieup.
Consumer finance website Value Penguin once named US 93 in Arizona as the most dangerous highway in the United States.
