HOUSTON (KIAH) — Houston has a week of changeable weather. We start the week warm with highs in the 70s on Monday and it stays warm until Wednesday. From there, a cold front brings storms and a chilly feeling at the end of the week.
Houston’s normal high at this time of year is 64 degrees. This will be much higher than the MLK day with highs in the mid 70s. There is also a chance of 30% short-term light showers, mostly from 12:00 to 15:00.

After a foggy Tuesday morning, temperatures warmed further to a potential record high. The January 17 record high is 80, which is what we’re calling for on Tuesday.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected Wednesday afternoon ahead of a cold front.

Houston is also at the tail end of the area, where there is potential for severe thunderstorms, the Storm Prediction Center points out.

Cooler weather sets in for a few days leading up to Wednesday. Note in the 7-day forecast that we are already expecting another round of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday.
