Three Free Agents Eagles are expected to sign

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” couldn’t be more fitting for Philly this offseason.

The Eagles were untouchable for most of last season, sweeping the Giants and 49ers en route to a Super Bowl appearance.

Part of what made Philly so dominant this year was team balance.

There were certainly strengths – the O-line, Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith and the defensive front seven – but there weren’t any major weaknesses either.

If the Eagles want similar success next season, they should be looking to re-sign some of their best free agents.

Javon Hargrave (DT) – The Eagles led the NFL in sacks last season with 70 (next best being the Chiefs with 55) and often went quarterback with no additional pass rushers. One of the main reasons for this was Hargrave’s play. He’s 30 now, but Hargrave is still one of the best defensive tackles in the league. He made 60 tackles with 11 sacks last season, giving him a total of 18.5 sacks over the last two seasons. That’s a MONSTER number for a DT, and re-signing him would go a long way towards reinforcing one of the Eagles’ best strengths. Still, there’s a good chance Hargrave is looking for a salary the Eagles can’t match.

CJ Gardner-Johnson (DB) – Both Gardner-Johnson and James Bradberry are primed for agency, but this seems like a situation where you’re just hoping to hold at least one. After signing a one-year demo deal last year, Bradberry looks set for a huge payday. Gardner-Johnson, on the other hand, might be more reasonable to keep. Gardner-Johnson was limited to 12 games with a torn kidney, but still produced at a high level, making 67 tackles with six interceptions and eight passes defended. It would be a DEVASTATING blow to lose both Bradberry and Gardner-Johnson, and the latter would almost certainly be a cheaper option. There are already rumors that the Eagles will franchise tag Gardner-Johnson if they don’t agree to a deal.

Isaac Seumalo (RG) – Once again, the Eagles want to make sure the best parts of their team remain strengths and re-signing Seumalo would go a long way in doing that for the offensive line. Center Jason Kelce is 35 and could retire before next season, and Seumalo is set for free agency. Keeping at least one of those players is essential. Seumalo should be relatively affordable for the Eagles and he would be one of the youngest offensive linemen on the team at 29.

If you want to dream about some players from other teams that the Eagles might sign, it would be fun to imagine a world where they add an exciting comeback to the mix (should Miles Sanders sign somewhere else).

Both Tony Pollard and Josh Jacobs would be exciting players to watch behind Philly’s monstrous offensive line. The reality, however, is that Dallas will probably keep Pollard at any cost and Jacobs will probably be looking for the biggest payday of his career.
